At Mountain View School District, our 2025–26 theme of Belonging reflects our commitment to ensuring every student, family, and staff member feels welcomed, valued, and connected.
Belonging is not just a feeling—it is something we intentionally build every day through strong relationships, inclusive practices, and meaningful learning experiences. From our Community Schools supports to our classrooms and extracurricular programs, we are creating environments where students feel safe to take risks, grow, and succeed.
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, thank you for continuing to make MVSD a place where every student knows they belong.
Sincerely,
Dr. Raymond Andry
Superintendent

Community Schools in Action
MVSD’s Community Schools model continues to expand, supporting the whole child and whole family.
Max Learning Afterschool Program
Max Learning ELOP programming is offered free of charge districtwide to our TK-8 students. These extended day program provide academic support and enrichment opportunities for our students
Families can sign-up their students to participate in a variety of afterschool classes including cooking, sports, cheerleading, STEAM, and language!
Our districtwide chess program, in partnership with ThinkTogether, recently concluded with the annual Chess Tournament, called The Queen's Gambit (more on that below). Although only older students compete in the Gambit, our students as young as TK are encouraged to participate and are exposed to the ancient game so they have a chance to discover a knack for it and become more confident through practice.
Partnerships with Think Together and Windtree Education bring hands-on STEAM learning experiences to our campuses each day after school.
Below, our students are learning about plant cycles and are participating alongside their family members in a Windtree robotics challange at last year's Community Fair. We are grateful to all our Max Learning partners for their commitment to quality afterschool programming and care for our scholars.
New this year, our partnership with YMCA has brought Model United Nations (MUN) to life for students districtwide.
Below, students are pictured participating in the MUN One-Day Training event in Torrance, CA, in preparation for their culminating event, the MUN Summit. The Summit is taking place this weekend!
We wish the best to our students who will be participating in the exciting MUN proceedings and in the MUN president elections. Good luck and go Mountain View!
Through our community schools partnership with the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, we’ve successfully launched:
Twice-yearly dental screenings at every school site, serving 650+ students over the course of multiple appointments!
Expanded vision screening services, including support for students needing glasses, serving 195+ students and providing 75+ glasses along the way.
As it remains a major need in our district, Tzu Chi Medical Foundation will continue to support our families with Medi-Cal enrollment and renewal.
Our Community School Site Leads and school leadership are to be commended for their joint efforts with Tzu Chi Medical. This has been a large undertaking that has already positively impacted our MVSD community.
Not only have the dental and vision services on campus helped to improve student wellness, but this increased access to care has also directly supported this year's efforts toward improved attendance and student success by removing barriers to care and the need to miss school.
We are excited and immensely proud to continue this Community Schools partnership.
Family resource efforts continue to grow:
In our last newsletter in February, we highlighted the huge community outpouring we received over the holidays to help support MVSD families with essentials, such as food, supplies and personal care products.
Our amazing team, including our Family Center, Community Liaisons, Community School Site Leads and our community partners continue to drive this important aspect of our Community Schools efforts forward.
Below is a picture of only a portion of our district's amazing community partners that were recognized at this year's first Partner Appreciation Event in February.
In addition to the twice-monthly food distributions in partnership with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank (open to the public), the once monthly pantry event with God's Pantry, and our recent clothing drives, the Family Center also hosted the annual CARE Resources Fair, with our major sponsors Longo Toyota/Lexus, Valley Vista Services, as well as many local partner organizations.
These efforts reduce barriers and ensure families have access to essential resources—because when families are supported, students thrive.

Student Achievement Highlights
Mountain View continues to see strong academic growth across the district academically. We are proud to share the following highlights:
Literacy Gains in MVSD
The latest data from 2025 shoes that the addition of Literacy Coaches has yielded an over 4% improvement in reading scores, districtwide.
This gain outperforms the average in literacy gains nationwide—demonstrating the impact of targeted, high-quality instruction. We are incredibly proud of the consistent upward gains our students are achieving.
Pictured above is a slide from one of the Literacy Trainings the coaches held at schools to equip our families with tools and strategies to help deepen student reading comprehension skills.
English Learners (EL) Gaining Proficiency
English Learner (EL) Reclassification rates continue their upward trend as well. This reflects increased student achievement and language proficiency.
Growth trends are also evident in i-Ready diagnostic data, helping guide instruction and support student progress in real time.
Conga Kids Semi-Final 2026
After an incredible Conga Kids season and an energy-filled semi-final event held at Payne Elementary, the Parkview Conga Kids team prevailed to advance to the Final at Novo Theater this May.
With performances in Salsa, Hip Hop, The Charleston, Bollywood and more, our student dancers displayed their dance step knowledge with an impressive amount of confidence.
Congratulations to Parkview (1st), Baker (2nd) and Twin Lakes (3rd) for placing in the top spots this year.
Math Field Day 2026
Another group of students that deserve to be commended for their hard work this season are the teams from Miramonte, Monte Vista, Parkview, and Twin Lakes for their outstanding work during Math Field Day at Twin Lakes!
This was a fulfilling morning for the students who participated and were able to put their skills to the test. We applaud our students and coaches for taking on this challenge!
Pictured here are the tournament's TOP TWO computational scorers for the the day from Monte Vista and Twin Lakes.
Our district is committed to making mental health resources readily available and VISIBLE around campus. In February's newsletter, we shared a new Safety & Wellness webpage!
Today, we are proud to highlight that Student Mental Health Support placards have been installed in each school campus in highly visible areas.
We hope that our students, staff and families take the opportunity to use and reference any of these hotlines and tips to help someone in need of support.
Our school counselors and staff have been doing an excellent job of informing our community of these and other resources available.
