Success starts by showing up! It is important that your child attends school each and every day. Consistent attendance helps build strong routines, supports early learning and social development, and prepares your child for long-term success in school and life. Every day your child attends is an opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
We understand that life gets busy and unexpected things can happen. If you’re facing challenges getting your child to school, we are here to support you.
Let’s work together to give your child the strongest start possible – every day counts!
To report an absence, late arrival or late pick up, the parent must call the Head Start main office at 626-652-4250.

The following is MVSD Preschool Program’s late arrival and pick-up policy, as noted in our Parent Handbook:
All children must arrive on time for school at the opening of the school day and be picked up on time at the closing time of their class.
▪ Each late arrival/pick-up results in a late arrival referral by the Early Head Start/Head Start Teacher.
▪ After the first late arrival/pick-up, the teacher will address the importance of following our policy for the benefit of your child.
▪ After the second late arrival/pick-up, the family service worker will address the concern with parent/guardian, review the understanding of our policy, emphasize the benefits of attendance and provide support services.
▪ After the third or per case by case late arrival/pick-up, Preschool Administration will address the concern with the Parent in a meeting, review the understanding of our policy, emphasize the benefits of attendance, provide support services and include possible alternative program placement.
For a late pick up: If after all attempts to reach an authorized adult on the Emergency Card Form have failed, then the agency will call the local authorities or the El Monte Police Department to accept responsibility of the student.
The Identification Child Release and Emergency Information Form will be reviewed with the parent/guardian twice during the program year.
Please note that for safety purposes, any changes to the child’s Emergency Card Form must be made in person at our main office: 2109 Burkett Rd. El Monte, CA 91732.
